I had a little time this afternoon to do a quick and easy mod to a plain guitar gig bag. Most gig bags have an outer pocket for accessories, and that single layer is easy to go through when attaching studs. I happened to have a few of these unusual star studs and couldn’t resist putting one on along with the pyramid studs, arranged in triangular fashion. This bag will be a small donation for a local fundraiser this weekend, Marianarchy http://www.renohipsters.com/events/marianarchy-xii-day-two-a-benefit-for-kula-dunn/ from Betty https://www.facebook.com/betterbettyrocker. Looking forward to playing some new songs at this show!
Betty has been busy with both hats on!
Over the summer we https://www.facebook.com/betterbettyrocker had a fantastic time playing a number of shows in the Reno-Carson-Tahoe area. We debuted a few new
songs (that aren’t really new anymore!) and are now taking a break while we work on new material as it turns cold here in Northern Nevada.
At this writing I’m prepping for a local craft fair http://carsonnow.org/reader-content/11/10/2015/1121-young-heart-holiday-craft-fairraffle the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Hopefully a few fair-goers will be inspired to get a new denim jacket or vest for their inner punk rocker! http://bettyrockwear.com/product/betty-rocker-denim-zip-jacket-with-faux-fur-trim/
I have also been having fun doing simple loom knitting, covering a couple of birthday gifts as well as some upcoming holiday gifts; very gratifying, loom knitting.
For now, back to the sewing machine, and then on to the guitar and the search for a cool riff 🙂
Short and sweet post this morning…it’s tough to be up late rocking out on a school night! It was Betty’s first time playing at Studio On 4th http://studioon4th.com/ in Reno- a popular venue that hosts many shows including local and touring bands. Last night we opened for The Lila Rose band https://www.facebook.com/lilarosemusic; they were really something-do check them out!
There have been some recent changes in the band, with the happy addition of our bass player, Irma Geddon, and Carolyn moving to vocals only, and who is at this writing, working on incorporating some rhythm guitar. Stay tuned for more newer and better Betty Rocker!
On a rare, rainy Friday evening in downtown Carson City, Nevada, recently I was lucky enough to sit down for coffee with Thee Reverend Rory Dowd, familiar to many as a longtime player in Reno’s lively, unique and ever evolving arts and music scene http://www.worstlittlepodcast.com/. Sitting alongside us, and offering up a little of her own savvy, was Carolyn Gates, drummer of many years in the great indie band Blunderbusst, these days singer and bassist in Betty Rocker https://www.facebook.com/betterbettyrocker and, on top of all that, quite the fashionista herself.
